Fusion Medical Staffing is on the lookout for a dedicated Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) for an enriching 13-week travel assignment in Hickory, North Carolina. Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of one year of recent ER RN experience
• Valid RN license in accordance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• Current PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
• Additional certifications such as TNCC, NIHSS, CPI, NRP, and SANE
• Other relevant certifications or licenses may be necessary
Summary:

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) is crucial in providing prompt, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department. This role requires skillful patient assessment, rapid implementation of urgent care plans, administration of life-saving treatments, and collaboration with a diverse healthcare team to ensure efficient, patient-centered care during critical situations. Successful candidates will exhibit strong clinical skills, excellent critical thinking, outstanding communication even under pressure, and a steadfast commitment to patient safety and ethical standards.
Essential Work Functions:
• Quickly assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing treatment based on severity
• Educate patients and families about emergency procedures and treatments
• Administer medications and treatments according to established emergency nursing protocols
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during emergency interventions and examinations
• Monitor patient comfort and safety while addressing immediate needs
• Document patient conditions as required within scope of practice
• Take and track vital signs, applying clinical judgment to identify deviations and prevent complications
• Respond to life-threatening situations according to emergency nursing standards and protocols
• Document comprehensive nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Develop patient education plans based on individual needs, considering the urgent nature of emergency care
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, specialists, paramedics, social workers, and support staff
• Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of practice
• Follow hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills:
• Strong critical thinking, dedication to service excellence, and superb interpersonal communication abilities
• Proficient in English reading, writing, and verbal communication
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions with strong computer skills
• Physical Abilities: Capable of remaining stationary, moving about, and handling equipment (50-100 lbs), including pushing, pulling, and bending
• Interpersonal Skills: Effective collaboration with a diverse team and maintaining a positive, professional attitude
• Technical/Motor Skills: Able to grasp, perform fine manipulations, and assist with procedures and equipment
• Mental Requirements: Manage frequent public interaction under pressure and adapt to irregular schedules with focused attention to detail
• Sensory: Must have visual acuity and communication effectiveness
