Battelle’s Energy Division is currently seeking a Petroleum Geologist I. This position located in Columbus, OH.

JOB SUMMARY

As a Petroleum Geologist I, the selected individual will provide geologic analysis of both individual wellbores and larger fields.

The successful candidate will work with the guidance of senior geosciences staff and mentor more junior geoscientists.

Examples of responsibilities based on current or anticipated projects include:

Assists building detailed petrophysical models in wildcat fields, historic fields and/or EOR fields, using data from a wide array of sources.

Interpretation of advanced wireline logs such as image logs, nuclear magnetic resonance, elemental spectroscopy logs and dipole sonic logs.

Perform screening of potential production and storage fields and estimate available capacity through assessment of seismic surveys and deep well logs.

Contribute in the development of static earth models using commercial software for use in dynamic reservoir simulations.

Advance the selection and execution of monitoring, verification, and accounting techniques, including surface and subsurface instrumentation suites and data analysis techniques.

Perform the integration of regional and local-scale geologic and geophysical data, including seismic surveys, to support assessment of oil and gas production or injection and storage of fluids in subsurface.

Assists the development and implementation of reservoir characterization studies and testing activities for oil and gas exploration and production and CO2 storage application.

Assists with preparation of proposals to provide geologic characterization services for carbon dioxide storage opportunities.

Interact with both internal and external clients to convey results or present findings through briefings.

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED

Bachelor’s Degree in Petrophysics, Geology, Geophysics, or closely related discipline.

0-2 years’ experience in petroleum geology, O&G or CCUS

Hands-on experience with additional geologic analysis and integration software suites, such as Petrel or Geographix

Experience in two or more of the following

Petrophysics

Reserves calculations

Drilling best practices

Permitting

Knowledge of and ability to effectively communicate in one or more or the following

Seismic interpretation

Sequence Stratigraphy

Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to represent Battelle or its clients at conferences or public forums

THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED

MS in Petrophysics, Geology, Geophysics, or closely related discipline.

Experience in fluid flow modeling
