About the Role:
The Maintenance Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and systems within the facility. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical systems including pumps, boilers, conveyor systems, and other related machinery. The Maintenance Mechanic will work closely with the production team to minimize downtime and maintain safety standards by promptly addressing mechanical failures and performing preventive maintenance. This role requires a hands-on approach, often involving climbing ladders and working in various physical environments to access equipment. Ultimately, the Maintenance Mechanic contributes to the overall productivity and safety of the manufacturing operation by maintaining equipment reliability and operational excellence.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Troubleshoot, repair and fabricate production equipment; welding, cutting, assembly, painting, finishing.
• Perform maintenance of manufacturing equipment, (dismantle machinery/equipment remove defective parts, repair/replace parts), building and grounds, and install equipment as directed.
• Perform preventive maintenance as directed.
• Regular attendance.
OTHER POSITION DUTIES:
• Monitor the operations of all utility systems such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
• Responsible for compliance with lockout/tag-out and OSHA requirements.
• Determine and order appropriate materials and parts needed for service/repair of equipment and facility.
• Suggest/recommend enhancements to the Preventative Maintenance system.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of basic machinery operations and computer literacy in order to maintain systems and ability to read machinery manuals.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ maintenance experience required, experience maintaining injection molding machines preferred.
• Basic troubleshooting and mechanical skills with ability to read blueprints.
• Basic knowledge/understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and robotics.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Valid driver’s license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
• Very heavy work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
• The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment and to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
• The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions:
• The worker is subject to noise, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases vibration and hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, and exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
EQUIPMENT USED:
• This position utilizes the computer, printer, telephone, calculator, and fax machine, construction and fabrication equipment and tools (power and hand), lift equipment, VOM, and all manufacturing and facility equipment.
